When we moved to Basingstoke in October 2023 our main priority was to find somewhere for our two children to go when I finished maternity leave. Since we moved areas, I could only afford to take 6 months off. This meant putting my baby into childcare at 6 months old.
We looked around all the nurseries in Basingstoke, thinking this was our only and best
option, and eventually found one that we thought would suit the needs of our two daughters.
It was a nice big building, clean, there was structure to the day, they cooked them good
healthy food. I started putting Saoirse in a day a week so she could get used to it before I
started work. The first day she cried going in, she cried coming out at the end of the day. The next time she cried going in and coming out and the end of the day. This went on for about 2 months before I decided this probably wasn’t the best way forward.
We began looking for childminders and we came across Claire and Ash. From the first
moment we stepped in it felt like such a warm atmosphere and Saoirse loved it. Completely different to the nurseries we visited. Eventually at 6 months Fiadh started and it was so great to know that my baby was being taken care of so well. We were sent regular updates and pictures of them both.
Saoirse and Fiadh have the best time with Claire and Ash. They are taken out to the park, to clubs, London Zoo, museums and I believe this is THE MOST educational thing they can be doing at this age. They are not only learning their Phonics and Maths, but also how to be safe on the roads, how to get on a bus, how to talk to people when you are out and about. I often get told by Saoirse that they can’t wear coats in the car- this shows me that safety is the number 1 priority not just ease!
I am a Year One Class Teacher so I understand how schools work and I personally believe that if there is another way for children to learn other than in at tables in a classroom then this must be done. Saoirse is working at an expected level, beginning to write her sounds and nearly counting to 20 and she will be fully ready for when she starts school in September but with so much more added knowledge and confidence.
I couldn’t have asked for a better setup for Saoirse and Fiadh. It’s so great to know they are going somewhere they enjoy everyday and that they are being cared for so well.
Childminder’s offer a much cheaper and more flexible solution to childcare, which is what the majority of working parents need.
We couldn't recommend Ash and Claire highly enough for their childminding services.
They are true childcare professionals who take amazing care of our daughter. They go above and beyond what we would have expected from a childminder, whether that's doing arts and crafts, taking our daughter to local parks or even special days out to amusement parks.
We are very grateful for the effort they put in with our daughter and the positive impact they have had on her life.
We visited several nurseries and childminders, trying to find the right fit for our son. We wanted an environment that would be a second home, which would fit in with our work schedules and finances.We visited AC Childminders, whilst they were in the process of becoming registered Childminders. Within minutes of meeting Claire and Ash, we knew this was the right setting for our son. We had never seen him so comfortable in an environment that was not our home. The connection between Christopher and Claire was instant, and he felt comfortable choosing toys and immediately interacting.
Claire and Ash have been fantastic from the moment we started the taster session to the present day. It's clear to us that Christopher enjoys his time at the childminders as we have several days in which he doesn't want to leave due to having so much fun.
On a daily basis, Christopher is introduced to different activities and experiences that he would not have received in other settings. This has supported the ability to build cognitive and physical skills. Examples are being rides on multiple forms of transport, visits to museums, libraries, zoos, and nature walks.
AC Childminders has been so flexible and accommodating with our work schedule and supported with providing additional childcare where required.
Personally, we have found the care provided from our childminders second to none.
I highly recommend Claire & Ash. They were a godsend when I went back to work after having my son. I struggled to find childcare for my 12 hour long days. I couldn’t have gone back without their help, I’m very grateful.
They do so much with my son and he enjoys every second, he’s come on leaps and bounds in their care. His little smile & excitement every time Ash picks him up says it all. I’m a solo parent & my son is my first child. They really have made a massive difference for me doing this on my own.

Adam is really enjoying the time spent with you, we are happy that you encourage play outside the house and you organise trips and walks in woods, parks, playgrounds, farms or other places to keep them happy and active and we thank you for that.
I think you’re both amazing, children are not easy! They can have great days, and awful days, and as a parent it is not easy! So I think you’re brilliant 😊
