Our visits to Milestones Museum
Milestones Museum is a place we love returning to, especially for its calm, engaging spaces that allow children to explore at their own pace. It’s the kind of setting where simple moments turn into meaningful learning.
The mindees enjoy dressing up, pulling faces and laughing at their reflections in the distortion mirrors, but just as special are the quieter moments — toddlers completely absorbed in what they’re doing, concentrating, exploring independently and taking their time. There’s no rushing here, and that’s something I really value as a childminder.
The children love making choices about what to explore: climbing stairs, visiting the old school room, colouring, playing with puppets, riding in the fire engine and spotting historic vehicles and traction engines (especially comparing the size of those huge wheels!). These experiences naturally support physical development, communication and curiosity about the world around them.
What always stands out is the social side. The mindees care for one another, talk confidently to others, work together to solve problems and enjoy shared play — whether they’re pretending, investigating a mystery, or simply exploring side by side.
Milestones offers a relaxed, welcoming environment where learning happens through play, imagination and real-world experiences. It’s always a lovely, unhurried visit — and one the children choose again and again.
